Joe's Apartment... I mean, how they got all those roaches to sing and dance is just mind boggling.

I think the OP's list was pretty darn good, although I would take a few out and put a few in.

This.  Two movies I would definitely add are A Clockwork Orange and The Shining.

robwebster

Silly dinosaur jokes aside, I'm amazed that nobody's mentioned Trainspotting, yet.

I find the lack of City of God in this thread severely disturbing. Seriously people, if any movie is to be defined as an "absolute MUST FUCKING SEE!", it's this film.

Also I will probably work on a list sometime this weekend.

Damn,  forgot both Bill and Ted Movies.  Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 1 and 2 and Weekend at Bernies (1 only)

emblempride

Oh man, so many movies to choose from. At the top of the list would be Citizen Kane and everything Stanley Kubrick has ever done.

King Postwhore

I see that most of my favorite movies have been spoken for already by Here is a few others,

L.A. Confidential (My fav of all time)
The Quiet Man
Memento

That is all.

"I don't like country music, but I don't mean to denigrate those who do. And for the people who like country music, denigrate means 'put down'." - Bon Newhart.

Wow, no one has mentioned Dr. Strangelove? Seriously?

Well, it's great, but is it really Top 20 great?  Not to me, certainly.

I'd say it's a cornerstone of the comedy genre.

Metropolis.

I don't feel like listing all of my favorite movies, and I don't want to repeat everything. Maybe someone else already posted Metropolis, but if they did I missed so suck my tits.

My top 10 films are:

1. Before Sunrise/Before Sunset - seriously if people haven't seen these, they're missing out on the two best romance and dialogue-based films I've ever seen, and I hate romance films normally.

3. Memento
4. LA Confidential (yes, I like noir  :P)
5. Sleepless In Seattle
6. Shutter Island
7. Speed
8. A Scanner Darkly
