Discuss Kevin Moore's amazing solo albums here. Really getting into this lately. Graveyard Mountain Home is the only one that hasn't clicked with me yet.

Sigz

You Go Now is a brilliant album. Lunar = EARGASM

abydos

I agree. I love CK, especially Dead Air for Radios and You Go Now. Fantastic mood and atmosphere combined with a great, cold, distant vocal delivery.

ehra

Dead Air For Radios and You Go Now are amazing albums and Mouse is easily one of my top 5 songs.

Phantasmatron

Graveyard Mountain Home is easily my favorite of the three, but that's probably because it was my first.

Still, the other two are pretty awesome.  I wish Chroma Key got a little more love around here.

Edan the Man

Dead Air For Radios is one of my favorite albums ever  :tup

I hope that one day we get some new Chroma Key (although I can't say I would mind if KM kept doing OSI albums :P)

Have you listened to it alongside the accompanying video?  The album is a lot more accessible when you experience it that way.

Then I'll try that soon :tup

I've been completely obsessed with You Go Now the past few days.

I think my favorite track off of that album is When You Drive, followed closely by Lunar. GMH has been a favorite of mine for a while, YGN, for whatever reason, didn't click until recently. It's so... :chill.

I love all three in different ways. Dead Air for Radios is weird yet simplistic stylistically, but it has a lot of really catchy stuff in it. You Go Now has a very deep quality that takes a while to appreciate. Graveyard Mountain Home has probably the most straight up electronic sound, but it takes a while to appreciate the songs in context.

Either way, it's great stuff. Chroma Key is one of my favorite bands/projects ever because it's very moody but with an edge to it. The music itself is simple, but its execution is complex. It just works on a lot of levels.

porksoda

The lyrics to "Another Permanent Adress" are some of the best I've read. Kevin must have had a looot of bad breakups.

KevShmev

Definitely a fan.  Love all of Dead Air..., and the other two both have some really good stuff on them.  :tup :tup

I guess you all know you can stream all CK stuff on www.chromakey.com but what I didn't know is that you can download for free Memory Hole 1. So if you're into Kev's electronic music with all sorts of samples and stuff like that - go get it.

This, also one of my favorite bands. Love especially the songs Colorblind, On The Page (favorite KevMo song ever perhaps) and You Go Now.

Haven't been to that site in a little while. Thanks for the tip.

Read the title and thought this was a Boards of Canada thread :(

Grapes Killed

/Needs to know where I can get all 3 albums. NAO!

porksoda

His site. You can buy them there ;)

Sigz

You can also stream the entire album for free there.

If we look at release history, how long time is it between one OSI record and one CK record?

BW&BK: Speaking of that kind of voice, what's the status of Chroma Key at this point?

KM: "I rarely have any future plans (laughs). And I rarely have future plans when I'm putting one project to bed, so I'm not really sure about what's going on with Chroma Key. I would only want to do it if there was something interesting there, and I would only want to do it for a good reason. I don't want to do it just to put out another Chroma Key album. So we'll see what happens."

Some months ago Steve Tushar mentioned that he'd love to do another CK album with Kevin and that they will talk about it. Meanwhile you can listen to a song off of Tushar's solo albu, featuring KM on vocals and lyrics: Periscope. https://www.myspace.com/stevetusharmusic

What should be my first Chroma Key album?

Super Dude

Go in chronological order.  Even though I like You Go Now more than Dead Air For Radios, I feel like it would be a weird transition the other way around.

sonatafanica

Keep in mind that the stranger and more emotional an album is, the more inclined I am to like it.

Super Dude

Oh, You Go Now is weird man.  Another Permanent Address and When You Drive especially.

Sigz

You Go Now is fucking amazing. Lunar =

sonatafanica

I went with Graveyard Mountain Home, the Limited DVD edition, which seems to be more plentiful than the un-limited edition.

TheOutlawXanadu

Bad choice. That one's good but DAfR and YGN are way, way better and probably more accessible as well.

sonatafanica

I didn't want to spend a lot and it was the only one that wasn't $25.

Weird? Is that all? You just named my two favorite songs by CK; surely they had more of an impact than simply "weird". But maybe not, I might just be one of the few that loves these, however I can't see how anyone can't hear how majestic and transcending the music makes one (at least me) feel. Every time I listen to the above songs, mainly WYD, I become completely calm and clear minded, its truly amazing. Even if I've had the shittiest day (that isn't near over) and can't seem to clear my head of all the shit going on, I can put this on and my heart rate will drop, I'll stop feeling so scatter brained, and everything will simply stand still. To call it an awesome accomplishment is understating just a tad.

Actually I used to really love both of those songs.  I just associate them with a bad time, when they weren't exactly helpful in making me feel better about it.

Dr. DTVT

Someone suggested watching the movie while listening to Graveyard Mountain Home.  Is the video still online?  I still need to buy it, but the first two albums, as well as his pre-Chroma Key demos are all great listening.

My copy of You Go Now is signed by Kevin as well   :hat
