RUSH

TIME MACHINE TOUR 2011

GREENSBORO & TOLEDO DATE CHANGES!

Monday, March 28, 2011

Live Nation announced today that due to unforeseen circumstances the Rush performance previously scheduled for this Friday, April 1st in Greensboro has been postponed one day and will now take place on Saturday, April 2nd at the Greensboro Coliseum. Doors remain 6:30 pm with show time at 7:30 pm.

After much consideration, as the Toledo performance would have been the 4th show in 5 days the decision was made to delay the show rather than move forward as previously scheduled. The added time between shows will ensure that fans in Toledo are treated to the best performance that Rush can deliver.  As a result, the Toledo performance previously scheduled for Wednesday, April 6th will be postponed one week and will now take place on Wednesday, April 13th at Huntington Center.

Tickets for both of the previously scheduled performance will be honored at the rescheduled dates.  Fans requiring a refund may do so at point of purchase.

God, the third disc of Different Stages is so awesome. I actually don't have it on CD... the guy who got me into Rush (a bootleg collector I used to trade with on a Rolling Stones board) sent me a bunch of the extra albums he had... he included Different Stages, but for some reason, there were only disc one and two. He included the third disc on a burnt CD, but it has gaps on it. I don't feel like buying Different Stages for one CD since I have the actual CDs for the first two discs.

Anyways, my question is was there a 2-disc release of this? I'm not home, and it's been a few years since I looked at the packaging, but I want to say there were only two slots for cds in mine.

I have it on CD somewhere, and I seem to recall that the third disc had its own sleeve and was just slipped into the jacket.  It also had some cool software graphics program on it that was fun to play with, but you could only run it if the CD was in, which limited it severely.

Yup.  Orbert is 100% correct.

Actually only first pressings had the third disc in it's own sleeve that the ends of the digipak enclosed when it folds back up. There were later pressings (I haven't seen too many) that did not include the third disc or the sleeve. (The Japanese version is pretty cool because you also got Force Ten as a bonus track and miniaturized Test For Echo and A Farewell To Kings tourbooks).

I adore that third sleeve. When I met Geddy at his solo album signing, I opted to have him sign the sleeve with him scalping Rush tickets on it  (and Alex being hauled away to the mental hospital) than his solo album. That's one of the funniest pictures I've seen on something that Rush has released.

King Postwhore

See, I got it on the release day(typical Rush fan) and never knew that.  I love that picture you talk about.  I love their sense of humor.

Yes, I'm the one who fails, not the self-claimed mega Rush fans who thinks that final line is repeated four times. :p

glaurung

He needed to repeat it a fourth time to really drive home how much you fail.

2011-03-30: To celebrate the renewal of Rush's Time Machine tour, and my own personal trip of 400 miles to see the Rush DVD filming in Cleveland, April will officially be Rush month at When Prog and Power Unite. What exactly does Rush month mean you ask? Kicking off our show on April 4th will be the first set from Rush's Time Machine tour. The middle of the April 11th show will feature Moving Pictures in full, and the April 18th show will end with the remaining songs from the Time Machine tour. Included in that last show will be an excellent audience recording of Neil's solo from the tour.

So tell your fellow Rush fans to come on out for these shows and discuss the tour and all things Rush during the show.

I gotta side with Nick on this one.  The final line should not have been four times.  It's three and three.

KevShmev

That's what I get for hitting command/c one too many times. :lol

But glaurung is still correct.

This year's tour started in Florida tonight.  The set list was reportedly the exact same as last year, as Alex said it would be.  So, there ya go.

Orbert

Rush always put on a great show, but it is disappointing that they wouldn't change anything since last time.  The exact same set list?  That's kinda weak, guys.

Jamesman42

Yeah, it was the same exact thing.

But you know what? It was still awesome. This time it was an arena show (instead of an outdoor amphitheater show), and the crowd had so much energy. Very very good.

I think it's because the second leg was originally a European tour but they added US dates.  With Rush tours on a second leg in the same country they toured they always mix a few songs around.

And at least Alex said before hand nothing would change. If you thought that was dumb you could simply not buy tickets.

True, but then again, Alex said they'd be playing "Jacob's Ladder" last year. >:( :censored

Alex is my all-time favorite musician, but his words about set lists always have to be taken with a grain of salt. :lol

For all we know, they may have rehearsed the song but one or two or three of them may have decided against it during rehearsals. They have admitted to rehearsing "The Camera Eye" before (sometime in the last few tours) but have said they didn't "feel it" and thus, was dropped from the setlists. This could be the case for "Jacob's Ladder" on the Time Machine Tour.

Personally, I'd love to hear "Different Strings" over "Jacob's Ladder", especially since it has never been played live before. Infact, I'd like to see them do a tour with a set of unplayed songs including "Different Strings", "Madrigal", "Losing It", "Emotion Detector", "Second Nature" (acoustic, since Geddy said they thought about it), "Available Light" and many more from the last 4 albums.
