Hey guys,

I am really just having a bit of fun with this, but hey you never know...

Ok, so MP leaves DT. No biggie right?...well it must not be because there was no great hoo har about it from either party.
Here is a guy, that literally put his heart, soul, blood, sweat and tears into this band for 25 years, is basically the spokesperson and go to man for 25 years, organizes, plans and oversees everything for 25 years, wins accolade after accolade because of his drumming associated with the band...then, basically overnight decides to leave with no great fanfare at all!!

What I am trying to say is...MPs departure was too....well........easy? I mean it was like he was the MP of DT one minute, then overnight there is a press release from MP then one from DT and see ya later.

What if....DT has ben doing their thing for 25 years...their fan base is growing and their tours are expanding, HOWEVER was there enough..i dunno..excitment....drama...whatever you want to call it, associated with DT to make people really go...'Wow this is happening...that is happening..whats going to happen next??!!!!' type thing to spark excitiment for the next 10 years plus.

Almost like some bad TV soapy, there needs to be a plot and something happening to keep you wanting more. SOOOO....what would be a really effective way to recreate some excitment here?? Hell....get Mike Portnoy to leave (which suits him because of the A7X thing), create a stir about a new drummer (hey people are now talking about DT through the music circles), put out a new album with new member ( Fuuny how all the critics are now listening), tour, maybe put out another album or so...THEN in 5 years, guess who walztes back in after cleverly playing the media with rumours...Mr Mike Portnoy is rejoining DT and they are recording a new album in 2016 and Dream Theater are bigger than ever!!

It may be all planned you see!!...Rippleys...belive it or not....

What a great way to spark some hype and interest that is guaranteed to last over 5-6 years, AND allow Mike to do some other stuff.

The truth is out there people.

so you're saying Portnoy is going "behind enemy lines" in order for DT to further themselves commercially? then when the coast is clear, he'll return and DT will be the new Metallica?

I don't agree with your post at all. A band doesn't need drama to pop up in the public interest. All it needs is music that's released.

The reasons why MP left have been made pretty clear, and unless there's something that they're hiding from the fans (which I don't believe is true until I see it), I don't see any point in doubting it.
