(at Flamenco show in Barcelona)
This guy was sitting with his iPad in front of his face the whole time they were dancing, taking a video. So, he never actually saw the actual performance directly, only through the screen.

I love how his photo app thing is a picture of a digital camera.

black_biff_stadler

It's time for Tool to write Ænima '11 to include rants about these freaks.

tri.ad

*scratches head* I will never understand those people, I suppose.

the Catfishman

I was on a whale watching boat in Iceland and people were actually using their ipads to take pics of the whales (and always missing them..).

rumborak

Speaking of photography, one thing people don't seem to get is the concept of half-pushing down the button on their regular camera (not iPad).  I have witnessed over the years many attempts of people doing the "let's all jump up and take a photo" thing, only to be foiled by the auto focus, which takes time.

lol @ rumborak
I see that ALL THE TIME too.  It's even hard to get a good pic if you do use the half-hold on a point and shoot camera.  Without doing it there's just no hope at all.

If I saw someone doing that at a show I would break their pad in half.

When Will and I were at Philadelphia zoo, they rented out iPads so people could take photos. It was strange.

To be fair, if those people want to have a recording of the performance for the rest of their lives, why not let them? If it's a concert, they're still hearing it anyways, which is the most important part for me at concerts. Also, some people go SPECIFICALLY to record shows. I know a guy who bootlegs shows for people... basically they buy him a ticket, and he records the show for them. Pretty popular with the whole bootleg community out there.

With that said, I very rarely do pictures/videos at concerts. Sometimes I'll snap a quick picture if I'm near the front, but other than that...

Sigz

It's more the fact that you're using an ipad for it, which seems rather impractical. Not to mention you're now holding up a giant box of light in front of everyone who's behind you.

MasterShakezula

I'm happy to not have an iPad.

Hell, I find my iPhone to be a bit of a pain in the ass to operate and carry around.

Why can't I just have the hardware inserted into my skull or something...

Let no one say that the younger generations aren't getting lazier by the day.

Ah, ok.  :lol Just thought it was about the general use of video taping during concerts.

Definitely agree on the blocking people behind you thing though... if you can't be discreet about it, then don't do it at all.

Woah, there, I have a good, (3.9, which I will raise by getting 4.4s both semesters this coming school year) GPA, and intend to go to college, and I'm currently taking an SAT prep course, so that I can get at least a 2100, preferably over a 2200.  I'm not lazy and careless about my future.

You got nothing to prove champ. I was making a comment about you saying that carrying around something as tiny as a cell phone is a hassle.

Oh, that post about the hardware to the skull was kind of a joke, though I do feel that the iPad is rather ridiculous in scope, and would be rather clunky to use, I assume.  I do enjoy using my phone for internet and music when outside the house, though I don't actually use it to talk to people.  I really don't have many peers who I keep in contact with, and only get calls from family, though I really don't see why they're so concerned about wanting to call me if I'm somewhere alone.  As for texting, I find it rather silly and weak, as well as inadequate in terms of characters available per message.

It's pretty sad. I love the guy but I never saw a musician complain about that problem so harshly before.

MasterShakezula

Sounds like he's running short on things to whine about.

Progmetty

That post made as much sense as triko stifa kanta risfo rakbodo.

MasterShakezula

I googled that, whatever it was, and it didn't turn up a single result.

I think holding up an iPad is kinda silly, but this is a hell of an overreaction :lol

tjanuranus

Wow "TECHNOLOGY IS RUINING EVERYTHING!" Makes him sound like the biggest douchebag and hypocrite.

MasterShakezula

This is a guy who makes a living whining about being rich and famous.  Of course he's going to make trite, hypocritical complaints.

I love my ipad2.  I bought one when I was sitting on a ton of cash and needed something new. I put off buying one for a few months after release thinking it would just turn into a dust collector like my nintendo wii. I have had it several months now and could not be happier with my purchase. I use it for everythng. The only thing i have used my desktop for since i purchased it was to put all my media on my ipad. I watch tv with it on my back porch as well as control all the dvrs in the house. All of my networking is done throuh it, and can kill plenty of time with it playing things like zynga poker and whatnot. Its so light and easy to hold, I go anywhere in the house and can be in any position and still feel comfortble. The thought of power supply never has to cross my mind. I can skype with ease from anywhere with wifi, it takes up less space and weighs less than virtually anything i carry in my back pack at school. Ive also just found out that all but one of my text books for this semester are available for my ipad. I dont even need to buy a digital copy, I can rent them for four months. So not only do I not need to lug a shit load of books all over, but I will save a bunch of money in the process. The only reason I see people hating on touch pads, mainly the ipad, is because of lack of use. A few minutes in an apple store does it no where near the justice it deserves. Granted there are some things i cant do, like pirate hundreds of movies a year, or make crazy spreadsheets. But honestly, any class that requires those kind assignments is part of a lab course to begin with. Im provided the computer as well as all the software id ever need. I get the fact that a lap top can do all these things, but not without sacraficing some things. For me personally, I like not having a keyboard or 7++ pound machine heating up on my lap. I like having a razor thin device that takes up no room regardless of where I put it. I could not be more thrilled with my purchase, and I think the fact that over 9 million ipad2s were shipped last quarter means other people are thinking the same way.

tjanuranus

shhh... don't say such things on here. Don't you know it's a useless POS?  ;)

BlobVanDam

If that block of text was written from an iPad, then no thanks.

lol, this was actually my first thought. That post is exactly why I still enjoy sitting with a "7+ thing on my life."

tjanuranus

What doesn't make sense is the iPad's autocorrect would have fixed those words. So either he has the autocorrect off or he's not typing on an iPad.

BlobVanDam

Nobody types that badly on a real keyboard (no offense Chino. For all I know you're just drunk, or lost some of your fingers in an industrial accident and decided to post while waiting for the ambulance). Auto-correct or not, it reads like it was awkward as hell to type.

In that case, I'm glad all of your digits are intact.
