1) You Not Me
2) Burning My Soul
3) Just Let Me Breathe
4) A Nightmare to Remember
5) I Walk Beside You
6) Prophets of War
7) Constant Motion
8) As I Am
9) Endless Sacrifice
0) A Rite of Passage

No real order I suppose, You Not Me clearly #1 though...

Burning My Soul and Just Let Me Breathe, I used to like a bit until I started posting on here and realizing the awful lyrics...
A Nightmare to Remember never stuck with me...  I Walk Beside You?  Really?  Pissed they wasted this song on April 1st 2006...  Prophets of War?  Ugh, nothing on SC did anything for me...  Constant Motion too!  As I Am and Endless Sacrifice have some terrible choruses IMO...  A Rite of Passage is definitely nothing special...

Didn't use WDADU since I only really listen to the songs I love,

Only A Matter of Time and YTSE Jam, as well as Afterlife and A Fortune In Lies...

BowlCity

1. You Not Me
2. Burning My Soul
3. Anna Lee
4. The Great Debate
5. Honor Thy Father
6. Take Away My Pain
7. Prophets Of War
8. Ravenskill
9. Repentance
10. Just Let Me Breathe

Yeah, I really hate FII.

Prog Snob

My ten least favorite DT songs are:

Light Fuse and Get Away
6:00
You Not Me
Anna Lee
Panic Attack
Never Enough
Forsaken
Constant Motion
The Enemy Inside
Build Me Up, Break Me Down

Outcrier

I consider all these pretty bad by DT standards:

Only a Matter of Time
The Best of Times
Raw Dog
Brother Can You Hear Me
Losing Faythe
Whispers on the Wind
Hymn of a Thousand Voices
(good job on the new album, DT  :tup)

Then comes these and achieve to be even worse:

The Ones Who Help to Set the Sun
Prophets of War
False Awakening Suite

jakepriest

"Meh" tier:
6:00
War Inside My Head
Just Let Me Breathe

"Ugh" tier:
Anna Lee
Wither
Far From Heaven

"Just no" tier:
The Looking Glass
Enigma Machine
Hymn Of A Thousand Voices

+ The entire WDADU.

01) New Millennium
02) Build Me Up, Break Me Down
03) A Fortune In Lies
04) Eve
05) This Dying Soul
06) A Rite of Passage
07) The Bigger Picture
08) Light Fuse and Getaway
09) Hollow Years
10) Endless Sacrifice

EDIT: I completely forgot about Innocence Faded (shows how little a think of the song). That would probably go in between AFiL and Eve, which would boot ES from the list.

What is actually the point of this thread? It just seems to be an outlet for negativity.

As the person who started this thread about four and a half years ago, I can tell you that the point of this thread is essentially the same as the point of any other thread: to have interesting discussions.  I'm sorry that you don't like negativity, but not every song can be everyone's personal favorite, and I don't see anything wrong with talking about the ones we don't like as much.

And now that the thread has been revived, I'm pretty interested to look back at my own list and see if my opinions have changed over the last few years.

Just let Me Breathe
Raw Dog  (Was initially The Ones Who Help To Set The Sun, before Ali mentioned Raw Dog)
Repentance
Status Seeker
Take Away My Pain
The Answer Lies Within
The Best of Times
The Great Debate
The Shattered Fortress

None of these have become favorites of mine, but some of them have definitely grown on me.  Especially Just Let Me Breathe and Take Away My Pain.  Actually, now that I think about it, I'm a lot more fond of Falling Into Infinity as a whole than I used to be.

I admittedly overreacted there, sorry. I just don't see that much discussion going on. Just ranking and the occasional "omg I can't believe you put that that low" (which I am admittedly a part of).

Jaffa

No worries!  Your point is completely fair.  I didn't mean to argue with you, only to explain why I originally created the thread.  :)

This thread is child's play. If you're up for some true negativity, let me free of the chains that imprison me and go on about modern DT.   :loser:

Well, be my guest. It's not likely to change my opinion of the newer stuff being brilliant, though.

Where's the negativity? I didn't I hate the songs or that the songs are terrible. They're just my least favorite. Care to expound on this?

I admitted I was overreacting when I was replying to Jaffa. Ignore my first comment.

Tumdace

Since counting most of WDADU is a cop out, here's my bottom ten only including studio albums (Not Raw Dog) and excluding WDADU:

A Rite of Passage
Anna Lee
As I Am
Build Me Up, Break Me Down
Just Let Me Breathe
Take Away My Pain
Lost Not Forgotten
Forsaken
Constant Motion
The Answer Lies Within

Considering you have Hymn of a Thousand Voices in your bottom ten as well, you share a tiny bit of that bad taste  :P

Touché  :lol
That song is proper cringe material to me though. I think it might be my least favourite DT song of all time.

Mladen

That song almost made my bottom 10 as well, it would be bottom 15 for sure. But even though I have three songs from The Astonishing in my bottom 15, it's still a top 5 DT album.  :metal

Prog Snob

I didn't include any TA songs because it's too new. There are a couple of songs that I might put in the lower ten but they could grow on me over time.  We'll see.

themkr

Constant Motion
The Enemy Inside
Forsaken
Beneath the Surface
On the Backs of Angels
Far From Heaven
Along For The Ride
A Rite of Passage
Shattered Fortress
The Answer Lies Within

dtvoices94

These are the ten DT songs I'd be ok with never hearing again:

Raw Dog
The Ones Who Help to Set the Sun
Prophets of War
The Dark Eternal Night
Forsaken
Constant Motion
Outcry
Through Her Eyes
Honor Thy Father
Burning My Soul

Stadler

For me, the list begins with Lines In The Sand and ends with Burning My Soul.   From that point, I'd have to go back and really listen to find something horrible (though you can probably put a small amount of money down that the heavier the song and the more it has cookie monster/growling vocals, the more likely it's on the list).

Tony From Long Island

This is just off the top of my head without going back and looking at each album:

1. The Great Debate
2. Repentance
3. Octavarium  (cheesy lyrics)
4. The County of Tuscany
5. The Looking Glass (good tune - attack lyrics on Mike are not cool)
6. New Millenium
7. Vacant
8. Innocence Faded
9. Honor Thy Father
10. Almost all of The Astonishing

Keep in mind, that I love DT, so picking songs I don't like  was difficult  (other than The Astonishing, which I don't like at all)

It seemed completely obvious from the first time I heard it.    Try listening to it with that in mind.

Here is what the lyrics mean, straight from JP himself:

Quote"The subject of that song is kind of how young people are really, really obsessed with fame - the idea of being famous," the axeman stated. "And everybody's living their lives now as if they're famous, with Facebook and everything. There's blogs, pictures of yourself - everybody's acting like movie stars, as if people want to know what's happening."  Petrucci explained further, "It used to be that you had to do something substantial in order to be famous, but now anybody can be famous and there's all these TV shows to be famous. Whether it'd be in dance or in singing - there's tons and tons of those type of shows, so it's kind of a weird thing that everybody's so obsessed with that," he concluded.

So, yeah... Its not about MP.
