Now that you have ADTOE, what are you using to listen/appreciate the songs, mix, arrangements, instruments & vocals?

Full size headphones
In-ear headphones
Loudspeaker system (i.e. hi-fidelity speakers or Home Theater Surround systems)
Medium Speakers (i.e. mp3 systems Bose-type speakers, computer systems with subwoofer)
Small speakers (i.e. laptop/computer)

teoevans

What are you using to appreciate every detail of the new DT album?

Currently Beyerdynamic DT-770's through my RME Babyface interface.  Sounding amazing  :tup

Metrovarium

Crappy in-ear earphones. I really need to invest in a decent pair of headphones.

teoevans

I'm currently using the Bose® QuietComfort® 15 Acoustic Noise Cancelling® and really love them.....

Progmetty

in-ear headphones but it's more enjoyable in the car, I've been offering everybody in the house rides to wherever they wanna go all day :lol

Priest of Syrinx

Klipsch Groove speakers on my PC.  By the end of the week I hope to listen on my stereo, Advent Legacy II speakers.

Jaq

Mostly, the cheap ass CD player that came with my car, otherwise, the cheap ass speakers that came with my desktop. I'm hardly what you call an audiophile. I could have an awesome sound system, but I spend all of my music related money on CDs.

SupermanJLU

Full size headphones plugged into my laptop

Chimpi

I only have cheapo Stanton DJ PRO 60 headphones (outer-ear headphones) to use, and futher cheapo Altec Lansing 2.1 speakers to use.  I mostly use the headphones as I get a much better perception and overall audio experience of the album.

I've also been rocking out hardcore in my car (where I, coincidentally, feel safest of all).

I have the members of Dream Theater locked in my basement. I force them to play ADTOE 12 hours a day. I feed them every now and then, so they're healthy.

Edan the Man

Alternating between full headphones (Sennheiser HD 280s) and "medium" 2.1 computer speakers for when I want to sing along.

First, I set the mood. I light some candles and place them all around my room. Scented with mint and lavender, so that my gigantic poster of a cheetah in a rain forest seems more majestic and gay (happy, for those unaware). I darken my room by nailing all my blinds into the wall and then my comforter also gets nailed into the wall.

Next, I have to have the perfect meal ready for me to eat. Food above 103 degrees and below 45 degrees is totally unacceptable and must be fed to a stray cat before I can resume my listening experience. Anyway, at least 8 different colors must be present upon my feasting table. The different wavelengths help absorb the sound of the music being played, even in minute ways.

After that, I have to get my body ready to listen. I spend 41 minutes stretching my thighs in awkward positions; the kind that would make Richard Simmons sweat like a whore in a evangelical church. My ears will be popped and ready to take in more sound. My eyes will be rubbed for 2 minutes per eyeball. I'll scratch the area above my nipples to keep blood flow to my heart at a maximum efficiency.

Then, once I am primed, I will take off my clothes and rub cottage cheese over my genitals, belly button, and the back of my neck. With two grunts, I will leap onto my desk and yell something about how I hate Mexico, and proceed to find my headphones, and listen to the album.

On the computer during the day:

Logitech x230

On the computer at night:

Sennheiser HDR130

On my phone when I'm out or exercising:

Panasonic RP-HJE350E

Wish I had a classy, expensive sound system though. This album deserves to be heard on something like that
Whoaaaahh, ohhh, ohhhhh. Whoaaaahh, ohhhhh, ohhhhhh. Waaah, ahhh, haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaowwwwww

Well, I've done:

New Yamaha hifi system I bought on the day, multiple times
In ear headphones, once
Full headphones, once
Car, once

Different devisCes, same outcome: awesomeness.

energythief

Crappy in-ear headphones
Crappy in-car speakers

The Silent Cody

With my headphones:

AKG K518 LE

conncted to hifi stereo Sony RX88 (a bit old one :) )

- in which CD drive is broken, that's why my ADTOE is spinning in...

:D

Of course I was listening it also without headphones too.

BlobVanDam

99% on my nice full size headphones. Only a couple of listens through my fairly good computer speakers.

Medium speakers by BOSE, no subwoofer. The sound is pretty nice, though. On the go, I use in-ear headphones.

cookienut

Through my home Theater streamed off my NAS server - through my PS3 then through my Pioneer HDMI'd amp ;)

I then use my Sennheiser HD 212 Pro's for absolute awesome listening. They are very underrated headphones. Bring out such fullness and bass. Perfect for ADTOE.

All of the above (except for computer speakers).

On the road and at work: My iPhone and klipsch Imiage S5i in ear headphones.

In my music room: Through my iMac, Presonus Firepod and a set Genelec 8040a monitors.

Around the house: Pioneer SC-LX71 (SC-05 in the States) and a pair Elac FS-247 front+Elac FS-243 center and Elac IW-1230 surround speakers when not listening in Stereo (I really like my pioneer but think my speakers would really shine (even more) if I had a NAD M25 Power amp for the front and center (bi amped) with the Pio as a pre amp and power to the rears... but I digress).

I guess my Bosch construction radio would be about the same as computer speakers and I use that when working outside around the house.

BTW, MM's coming through in the mix just fine for me  :tup.

Edit: But I am still listening to the 256k Mp3 I got from RR... I'm looking forward to my Box arriving!

Zydar

My 5.1 surround system that's hooked to my PC.

I heard that if you listen to the album in 5.1, you hear Myung singing along to every song in the rear speakers. Can you confirm this? Because I like the idea of having Myung softly sing to me from behind.

Confirmed. They really weren't kidding when they put JM louder in the mix.
