I see there is a new album from Murder Of My Sweet, and strangely it's a sequel to another band's album - the very great Mind's Eye album A Gentleman's Hurricane. how very prog... the link is songwriter, drummer, keyboard player, producer Daniel Flores.

Apparently it follows the daughter of the hitman from the first album.

You can really hear the sound of A Gentleman's Hurricaine in there.  Though, it is quite a lot more ... Frontiers-y than the original.  I'll spin it when it drops in December.

Anyone here listen to Vega? They are one of those bands I just lumped in with the cookie cutter Scandinavian AOR bands that bore the tits off me. I noticed that they are playing a pub I go to see bands fairly nearby so I gave them a listen.

For a modern AOR band this new album is pretty good. I think I'll go see them.

I've pimped them many times on here Paul.  I love them.  They are really the only melodic rock band I follow these days for the most part.

I've followed them since their debut.  I've been meaning to order the new one but haven't gotten around to it.  My fav albums are What the Hell and Stereo Messiah.  The last one Grit Your Teeth may be third, that was killer.  Go and see them mate.  I'd bloody love to see them.  What I've seen on YouTube they put on a good show.

Finally spun that Nestor release.  It may not be actually be on Frontiers, but it fits the mold - in a very good way.

This album is a lot of fun! I really enjoyed the first few videos they put out. They are obviously doing tribute to a cheesy time, but damn, they are great musicians and the videos were entertaining to say the least! They nail a sound of a past era, but it's still fresh and better performed and played than some of the acts from the past.

Really enjoyed it! They nail the sound and the whole mood. And they have the songs to back it up.

Really enjoyed both this year's The End Machine and Wayward Sons releases.  Neither essential to casual listeners but anyone who grew up ion Dokken grooved along to the first couple Lynch Mob albums or dug the shit outta Little Angels should enjoy \m/

For me Frontiers succeed when they leave bands to their own devices such as these and recent Spread Eagle etc!

When I started this thread I was a bit of a fanatic with what Frontiers were doing.  While its true now leaving bands do their thing is the better product, the manufactured shit they are doing used to be good.

Allen/Lande, Sunstorm, Place Vendome, the Toby Hitchcock, Hardline, Find Me etc were all quality years ago.  Frontiers got greedy and has just kept taking the concept too far and devaluing the idea of putting quality musicians together.

It would be intriguing to find the time to read through this whole thread to see the decline.

The End Machine was very good. Just a shame George wen5 with that organic guitar sound rather than his BFTA tone.

And with Frontiers, if it has ADV's name on it, I'll pass.

Pretty much. Or Hitchcock. I don't think he's done anything interesting either

Thing is, Erik Martensson did everything on that album.  IMO, he hasn't done a great deal since worthwhile either.

So I was looking over the Frontiers roster and maybe this has happened, but they really need a concert bill with Crazy Lixx and Temple Balls. I mean, it's right there:

The Lixx the Balls Tour.

Make it happen.

I honestly have no idea what either sound like, but I was really bored as my wife was having surgery and I was at the hospital for 10 hours today. My mind really wandered.

Is she ok??

She's fine. She has been suffering hip issues for years and had an impingement in her right hip. She essentially had bone spurs that were scraping when her hip moved through the joint. Surgeon also found her labrum completely detached sans one part that had been stapled in place some 8 years ago when she had the same surgery on the same hip. She now has 6 more holding the labrum in place. Just been a long day. Up at 5am and at the hospital at 6am.
