As much as I like Skyrim, I have a few issues: Foremost, compared to New Vegas the game just isn't as "smart." For example, as you played New Vegas and fought alongside the NCR or the Legion (or otherwise) you actually felt like you were impacting the world as you recruited various factions to your cause and saw various bases cleared out of members of the opposing faction and replaced with your guys. If you wanted to rush into the opposing faction's camp and clear out the leader you could do that too-- even if it didn't have a HUGE impact on the game, it still was better than in Skyrim where you can beat Ulfrid within an inch of his life but are never permitted to actually go ahead and just kill him (before the final quest in the Civil War line).

The other thing is, I just haven't been able to settle on a character I like yet. I have one Nord guy, who's a Stormcloack, but after being disappointed with the Civil War quest I moved to a Mage-thief combo... which is just kinda a sucky combo, because Mage robes suck and people kill me pretty damn quickly.

Sigh. Guess it's time to try another build out!

Disagree really. I went into the Legion camp and killed all their dudes there, and then all of the dudes including Caesar at the other place, and NCR guys didn't even mention it when I talked to them.

QuoteCreation Kit  — Beginning in January, PC players will be able to download for free the same development tools we used at Bethesda Game Studios to create Skyrim. In tandem with the Creation Kit's release, we will roll out a new Wiki and videos to help you get started. It also features something we think you're going to love...

Steam Workshop – We're excited to share news that we've been working closely with Valve to integrate Steam Workshop into the Creation Kit. Using the Workshop, you'll have free user content with the push of a button. The Creation Kit will bundle your mod and upload it to the Workshop, where everyone can browse, rate, and flag mods for download. You'll be able to do this from any web device, including your smartphone. Like a live Netflix queue, when you fire up Skyrim, mods you flagged will be automatically downloaded and installed. Everyone here is really excited about the opportunities and possibilities this opens up for our entire community.

Prefer to use existing modding sites? Not a problem. You'll still be able to upload/share/access Skyrim mods on fan-created mod sites.

It's awesome that they encourage that!

Some mods that are really cool: Realistic Snowflakes, Enhanced night sky.

HarlequinForest

Enhanced Night Sky rules.  Can't really tell the difference with Realistic Snowflakes unless it's a screenshot.

I left my desktop unplugged all week so I would focus on studying, but it's Saturday night so it's time to Skyrim it up. :metal

I haven't played for almost a week for the same reason, but I've still got mad work to do. I gave it to my dad for safe keeping until after Monday so I could keep focus, and get all this shit done, and so far it's worked really well. After Monday though, all bets are off, and its Skyrim all day baby.

Goddammit.  Having to settle with the console version is murdering me.

orcus116

Why anyone would even bother with the console version of this type of game is beyond me.

TheMadgician

Because my PC crashes when I try to run Champions Online?

Because I like playing games on a console more.

The game is much more stable on my Xbox than it would be on my PC, Modding doesn't really interest me, and the graphics are good enough, so it really doesn't make any difference to me.

This is the first time I've played a game like this on PC and, honestly, I haven't used any mods yet. Perhaps that will change, but perhaps it won't. I do miss sitting on a sofa, though.

To be fair, there aren't really many mods out - the construction tools haven't been released yet.

Yep

Fiery Winds

Umm...here.  Skyrim Nexus

Be sure to download Nexus Mod Manager, as it makes installation of most mods as simple as a couple clicks (no digging through folders).

I've hardly been checking this thread because I'm really busy................................

Playing Skyrim.

Not all of us are rolling in money baths.

Yeah, I'd love to be using the PC version and be able to mod to my heart's content, but there's no way this thing is running on my shitty computer.  I think the console version is better than nothing, at least!

Exactly. The console version is all I can afford. It's too expensive for me to buy an entire new computer with top-notch specs for gaming. I just can't afford something like that.

WindMaster

I'm running windows on my early 2011 macbook pro. This game runs like a charm.

Sigz

My 4 year old desktop runs it on ultra. It's really not necessary to have some absurd gaming rig to play PC games.

Gorille85

What does "Modding" and "Mods" mean?

WindMaster

Mods are files or programs that make modifications to the game. In other words, exceptionally awesome.

Riceball

I used to play games on PC, now I prefer my 360. Largely because: 55-inch HD screen, hifi system, lazyboy couch on wheels and I can pick up and play (bar system updates). Didn't we have this discussion, or something similar, in the games thread not long ago?

Gorille85

Oh! :tup

I think I'll get Assassin's Creed soon!

SystematicThought

My PS3 just freezes when I try downloading the Skyrim patch

My computer ran Oblivion like shit so I don't imagine that this would run any better.

Bacong

You still have the same computer you did when Oblivion came out?

Unless you've just tried it recently :p

Well... both actually.  :lol

HarlequinForest

I can't see how people can be so indifferent to modding.  T_T

Dimitrius

Repairing the White Phial sidequest still glitched after the 1.2 patch...  :\

PuffyPat

I haven't played in over a week, and looks like I won't be touching it for at least a few more days. I hate the last weeks of the semester.

El JoNNo

I've got my enchanting up to 100 and now I can enchant an item twice. Just one problem, I have no more money to buy the gems to enchant the items lol

The game looks beautiful on my rig; I7 quadcore, 6 gigs RAM and 2x EVGA GTX 460. /drool.
