If I'm ever a keynote speaker I'd end my speech with Bill Pullman's inspirational address.

Man, Independence Day is such a great movie guys.

Don't you hate that speech more than anyone here?

And that was before modern wifi. Imagine what they could have done today with an Ipad.

Super Dude

I need me some good old-timey movies. Not like way back in the silent days, more like The Ten Commandments (watching tomorrow), Cleopatra (watching tonight), Exodus (watched it yesterday)...that sorta epic 1950's/early 60s stuff.

Adami

Which 10 Commandments movie? The original or the remake? I assume you mean the Charelton Heston remake. I have both but haven't seen the original yet, need to one day.

Super Dude

The fact that the Charlton Heston version is a remake is news to me; I didn't know there was one before that.

There was and it was staring JESUS!

Oh sorry, but yea it even had the same director. I think the original is even from the 20's, but it's been a long time since I've looked into it.

Wiki shows confirmation of Cecil B. DeMille. Man, what a guy. Totally different movie though, it sounds like.

Just finally got around to watching Source Code and all I can say is Bravo.

That's 2 for 2 now Duncan Jones, Keep up the good work.

TL

Source Code was indeed quite good. I really can't wait to see what Duncan Jones comes up with next.

Super Dude

Watching 1408. Commercial break atm. Is it actually good?

On an unrelated note, it's on MTV, and before the show started I was flipping back and forth to see whether it had started yet. The program before was about Snooki. The more ten seconds I spent watching that has caused irreparable neural degradation, I'm sure of it.

MetalManiac666

Watched The Graduate tonight.  Pretty enjoyable, though the 'comedy' tag on Netflix was misleading.

Super Dude

Wow, that was some scary shit. I had to flip the lights back on pretty early into the flick.

Watch Lawrence of Arabia.

It's a fantastic film.

YES.  The Great Escape is a really good film too.

Dimitrius

Been on a movie binge recently:

Kingdom of Heaven: bored me and didn't finished it.

Drive: This exceeded my expectations by a lot! Very good film!

Trollhunter: FANTASTIC!

Up next is Oldboy and Melancholia.

Super Dude

The Amazing Spiderman was pretty good (not amazing). I still prefer the Toby Maguire version, especially because I thought it had a better thematic take-away (that whole "great power, great responsibility" bit), but this was a solid release.

jingle.boy

So, in preparation for Legacy (and fitting given the thread title), Jingle.son and I started the Bourne trilogy yesterday with Identity.  Damn good movie.

Saw Amazing Spider-Man on the weekend.  Good, but not spectacular.  3D not worth it in this case, but to see it in IMAX, it has to be 3D.  Took the boy and two of his buddies.  Good time.  Got a new preview for Total Recall - damn this looks good.  As well as Skyfall.  Craig is easily the best Bond since Connery... in fact, I think I like this edgier portrayal of Bond.

Eh, I like Brosnan's Bond better.

Me too, Goldeneye is my favorite.

King Postwhore

I'm with Jingle on liking the grittier Bond.

Watched the second Sherlock Homles movie last night.  Man Downey can do no wrong of late.

I love his Iron Man stuff. Not too crazy about Holmes, but hey, RDJ.

I'm probably biased by the fact Brosnan is the Bond of my generation, but I much prefer Brosnan's Bond too. I think he was a great Bond, unfortunately it was just that most of his movies were pretty weak.
The Daniel Craig movies have been stronger so far, but I'm still not crazy about him as Bond. The trailer for the new movie didn't interest me in the slightest either, although I'll still go and see it and give it the benefit of the doubt.

Super Dude

It's because it's not just about the Brosnan Bond himself, but also the look and feel of those films captures I think the grandeur and magic of the early Bonds, like that "hotel bar with gentle piano playing, a sexy young femme fatale staring at him from across the room" feel that's very much a part of that '60s era aesthetic. At least that's what does it for me.

Sigz

Some of the brosnan bond movies were fine. Some of them were completely fucking ridiculous.

HEY LETS HAVE HIM WIND SURF ON A TSUNAMI ON A ROCKET CARS WINDSHIELD WHILE BEING CHASED BY A SPACE LASER

chrisbDTM

i have all the bond movies but have not watched them all. ive seen all the connery, brosnan, and craig movies. can anyone recommend one from the other actors?

Also, Denise Richards as a nuclear physicist.

Still, Goldeneye is amazing!!

chrisbDTM

not the exact wording, but that line at the end of the movie with denise richards

"i thought christmas comes only once a year"

hahahah

Dimitrius

When I first saw that movie when it came out, I was like "lol because her name is Christmas".

Flashforward a few years laters and I was like "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!"

Look, all Bond movies have their lol-worthy moments.  Craig's Bond learning to be a world-class Texas Hold Em player in a matter of hours, and winning when he absolutely has to?  C'mon.  Oh, and he just happens to have the antidote for a particular kind of poison in the glove box of his Aston Martin?

It's worse than that. The poker was pointless; that final hand didn't require any skill. Everyone had amazing hands, so they weren't folding. He just happened to have the best hand. He got lucky.
