Well that makes approximatively a 82 min set. That could've played one more song

keyboard spot inbetween POW and SS. plus there was probably a jam at the end of TTT

BREAKING NEWS

JAMES: "6. whoops, TDOE, not overture. got caught in the moment haha"

There. Happy now?????

KevShmev

Ugh, they finally play an instrumental again besides "Erotomania," and they pick their worst one?  Ouch.

skydivingninja

That is one weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeird setlist.  Cool except for PoW, but very, VERY weird.

Scurvy!Dreams

SystematicThought

Really Prophets of War?
Whatever, I would like to see Overture live

I honestly do not want to turn this thread into an argument over what their worst instrumental is, so I will just say that, while technically brilliant, "The Dance of Eternity" is lacking a memorable melody of any sort, unlike most of their other technical wizardry songs, most of which usually have a memorable melody somewhere, and the last two minutes just go on and on and on and on...

FabiotheIguana

I like the setlist. But they could be playing more songs, damn it.

yeshaberto

just got to the hotel from the show...weird setlist indeed, but  :metal show...it appeared a number of people were there for ZPZ, which was odd because they were animated during their show but not DT

A pretty good video showing JR's new "toy". ;) (from about a minute in)

DarkLord_Lalinc

What the hell, The Dance of Eternity and Prophets of War?! Holy crap.

cyberdrummer

Great setlist - I much prefer this one purely because it's more of a surprise. Glad to see it all mixed up by MP.

Nihil-Morari

I agree, I personally love TDOE, and PoW must rock live! So that's it for predicting setlists :lol

Oh and, Jordan already changed his key solo for AROP? What's that about? Even before playing it live once, he's already not satisfied with it?

tri.ad

Cool to see POW in the set list, but TDOE? Wow, that's kind of a let-down.

hefdaddy42

That is certainly a strange setlist, but I'm glad that Mike is really mixing it up so much even 2 shows into the tour.
Quote from: BlobVanDam on December 11, 2014, 08:19:46 PMHef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

Huh, I might be going to see them in Montreal and now I'm completely puzzled as to what set I might get.

I hope I don't see PoW/SS/TDOE.

ariich

That's a pretty groovy setlist! The first had good songs but was far too predictable! Am hoping they continue to change things up a reasonable amount :D

Jamesman42

Gee, thanks for doubting me, guys. Nah, I kid, that was a crazy setlist, I understand.

Crowd and band was on fire for this show. A few people, but not many, left after ZPZ. Still, this was definitely DT's night. Keys and vocals could have been louder and guitar a bit softer, but, other than that, the best DT show I've seen now. Stage setup was great. JR had a giant flat screen TV behind him, which sometimes showed the same thing that was on the megascreen. Hmm. JLB was only a little shaky vocally in the beginning, but he was ON after that.

Setlist, because I want to:

1. A Nightmare to Remember
2. Prophets of War (total shocker, but (@kevschmev), it DID work great live, but we had an energetic crowd as well)
~Keyboard Solo~ into. . .
3. Sacrificed Sons
4. Misunderstood (which they played last year at this same venue, so this was a shocker, but with the chaotic ending this time)
5. A Rite of Passage
6. The Dance of Eternity (I really don't know why I thought it was Overture 1928, maybe because I'msick :lol )
7. Take the Time (which missed the second verse, but the ending was a bit extended to "cap off the song," so I wouldn't say extended like "Hollow Years" extended.) Keytar on this for keyboard solo and unison
-------------
Encore: THE COUNT OF TUSCANYYYYYYYY

For Nihil-Morari: If I heard correctly, a couple of the songs for ZPZ were: Inca Roads, forgot the name now, but some song about Turkey farmers?, and a "blues song gone horribly wrong." That's all I can recall since I've never listened to ZPZ, but I will say that I was highly impressed with them!

Ahhhh.
\o\ lol /o/

Whoa. Blob, what's the deal with JR's TV screen? SHARE YOUR SECRETS.

cyberdrummer

I've posted the ZPZ setlist in the 24th July review thread. Here it is though if you missed it:

What do you want to know? It's a 55" screen (plasma I believe) that is used to display the 3D wizard which plays along with him live.

antigoon

ohh, I guess the 3D wizard thing flew over my head :lol Does it respond to his keys?

If you watch it, it is in fact 100% live. It responds to MIDI data and will play whatever is played on the Oasys.

Jamesman42

Ahh, OK, I didn't understand it all, but I that makes sense now (since he used it for the keyboard solo).

Was it on the big screen for the keyboard solo at all, or all just live cam of JR? I don't know how they've got it hooked up right now.
And I'm still waiting to see some live footage of all of TCOT and ANTR. I want to see my own damn videos!

Jamesman42

Yes, it was on the big screen as well, and they even put on the screen in a few other songs. Awesome work man!

And from what I saw of the videos, awesome work. TCOT, AROP, ANTR, PoW, all awesome.
