Hey everyone...Im going to the philly show on friday and am just wondering how the show is laid out.  It starts at 7, so I am assuming the line up looks something like this...

I DO!

A Nightmare to Remember
Constant Motion
Beyond This Life
Hollow Years (extended)
Erotomania
Voices
The Count of Tuscany
----ENCORE----
Metropolis

Holy God was this set awesome.  Constant Motion is a fun live song, that's for sure.  I was really shocked they didn't play AROP!  JP's guitar seemed to break down halfway through Erotomania and MP teased us by looking like he was about to jump the band back into the Silent Man part, and kept doing that until JP's guitar started working again.  The crowd really got into it and I have a very strong feeling DT is coming back to NC again.

The lack of AROP is angering me, but Constant Motion isn't too bad.

Oh, did I mention James was on FIRE?  I think it might have been better than Score.  Voices was incredible.

In 2007, my friends and I drove from Atlanta to Baltimore to see them, because Baltimore was the closest thing to the Southeast they were playing.

Since then, we've learned:  Atlanta is the absolute best venue in America to see them, due to the General Admission Floor allowing you to get your spot first-come first-serve instead of having to be on the Meet-and-Greet list to sit in the front row.  That Baltimore show was a good show, don't get me wrong, but the setlist and experience were weak in comparison to the Tabernacle.  The Gwinnett Arena where they played for Gigantour is also a comparatively weak venue to the Tabernacle.

I really don't mind that they didn't play A Rite of Passage. No one's listening to DT for the singles so why bother? But Constant Motion? God I thought that way over. Can't wait for Friday!

They probably didn't play there in the Chaos tour. Hence the old PN setlist.

They didn't play here AT ALL.  EVER.  I'm perfectly fine with hearing CM.

Jamesman42

Dang, you got The Count and Metropolis?

Well, I did get TTT and the first ever showing of PoW. . .
\o\ lol /o/

I'm so glad to see full songs in the encore. The medleys were ok, but I much prefer seeing a complete song.

Same.  I'm no fan.  At all.

I'd take Never Enough over it any day.

Just got home from Asheville. It was DT's first NC show 'ever', and a great one at that.
'Erotomania/Voices', regardless of hearing it last year in Richmond, was still a highlight and 'Hollow Years' was a nice surprise.
It's been years since I had to drive less than 4 hours to see them....16, to be exact (Stone Pony, Asbury Park in '93).
Would've loved 'Afterlife' or 'The Killing Hand', but whatchya gunna doo :-\

NP: DREAM THEATER ~ Uncovered 2003-2005

skydivingninja

Yup.  I was just as surprised as everyone else here is.  But even if you wouldn't want to see CM live, just remember most of you weren't at the Asheville show.  I can guarantee that if you were there, you'd go just as crazy as everyone else because, let's face it, you're seeing Dream Theater play somewhere for the first time ever.  Its a pretty awesome feeling, even if you miss out on the totally awesome single from the new album and get a mediocre single from the last one.  If anyone else gets CM during ProgNation '09 in the states, try to enjoy it.  Its a lot of fun live.

That being said, if they decided to play Prophets of War here I would have been pissed.

CliffEmAll

I thought 'Constant Motion' was cool, but given the choice of SC material, I'd've killed to hear 'Repentance' live......with Mike of OPETH on vocals, of course :metal

Question to those who saw 'Voices' live:

How did James sound? I'm sure there's footage of him on Youtube, but I'm not gonna trust a grainy video to judge his performance.

I'm hoping they bring it to Philly tomorrow :metal

Oh I wasn't worried he was going to be bad. He surprised the hell out of my on the CiM tour. I was just curious, because I was just listening to it and a lot of it is in the higher register, which he had been having trouble hitting

CliffEmAll

James was in fine voice, last night. May have been the best I've heard out of him, so far.

pretty amazing setlist
Holy shit!!! This setlist is incredible! TDOE and OLT were in my dream set list thread a while ago, but I can't believe they became true.

cyberdrummer

I'm going to Sonisphere this weekend ( https://uk.sonispherefestivals.com/ ), so in my absence, could a mod try to keep this thread updated with the setlists for the next two, possibly three, shows, and update the song count accordingly. Or I'll just do it all at once when I get back.

On topic, I think we've seen most of the songs that will be in rotation on this leg now. Perhaps there might be one or two more in places like NYC and LA, but on the whole I think we've seen the typical setlist already.

Nick

Well, on one hand I'll be at the next two shows and know the setlists, on the other hand when I get home I'm going to want to go to bed immediately. :lol

I'll do my best.

Nick, text me the setlists as they occur! It won't cost you much, honest :P

not suer what you mean by that last part. they haven't played it here since 2006, so it's likely.
