Did you miss the update by JP? He explained what's goin on pretty clearly!

The DVD took a bit more than many, including the band itself, anticipated, but that's due to the amount of stuff in there. He enumerated: the size of the audio, the amount of music present in the recording, the video, the blu ray, the 360° technology, the packaging. He said that in the end we will all understand why it took so long and will likely judge it worth the wait. He stated that he honestly thinks it's their best to date, and that much will be completely different than anything we have seen in the past from them including (I think) the modalities of release.

Oh come on guys, it's JP, what did you expect. In the past few years, he's rarely been the one to come out with details. I am happy he spoke out and said they also expected it to be out a little sooner, meaning that neither them nor OTE are keeping us in the dark for no good reason.

I really hope to God they make a BR + CD edition. Not keen on buying a 5 disc set. Why would I need DVDs if I'm buying the BR?

Most BRs come with the DVD anyway these days and they cost almost nothing to include.  Also, I'm sure a lot of people who have a BR player only have it in their home unit and not in their car/pc/laptop/etc so having a DVD version makes a lot of sense.

It'll still be quite a while before BR players are as common as DVD and I also think by that point physical media will be on its last legs anyway.

IMO, they're shooting themselves in the feet if they release the new album first.

That has not been my experience.  BR + DVD sets don't typically cost much more than BR - only.
