Fan-fucking-tastic concert. The crowd fantastic. The band were amazing. I had hoped for octavarium or in name of god to be on the setlist, but I take what I can get :)
Maybe they will show up on the next

I have started uploading IT and with any luck should it be uploaded before I have to check out

Excellent! BTW, I'm assuming the Easter Egg part of the track didn't show up anywhere?

Thanks for recording part of the show and uploading :)

By the way, hopefully this is just a mistake, but the concert venues for Lithuania and Helsinki are both advertising that this show will be 1 and a half hours long on their websites (for buying tickets). And those countries are pretty strict about things like this, I mean time limits on concerts. Just wanted to bring it to the attention of anyone in the DT camp, if they're reading this, because I wouldn't want there to be any last-minute misunderstandings between band and promoters.

Perpetual Change

I'm torn between dismissing the set as a disappointment, and acknowledging that DT have so much music they could never please me, individually. I'm sure my perfect DT show would be a lot different than many fans.

No complaints here even though they didn't play I & W songs. I doubt the whole tour will be bereft of songs from said release.  I still think they are playing ACOS right now and no one is telling us.   ;D
LOL! Personally, I wouldn't mind it if they skipped completely over IaW for this tour - all those songs (including my favorite DT song ever, LtL) have been played plenty. They've got so much material to pick from in their catalog, and so much of it hasn't been played in ages. It would be nice if they completely shook things up in that regard. Time will tell if they do or don't.
Quote from: BlobVanDam on November 13, 2015, 07:37:14 PMAs a basic rule, if you hate it, you must solely blame Portnoy. If it's good, then you must downplay MP's contribution to the band as not being important anyway, or claim he's just lying. It's the DTF way.
Quote from: TAC on July 10, 2024, 08:26:41 AMPOW is awesome! :P

Shit. Amazzzzzzzing setlist. If this setlist is part of the NA tour, I might consider flying somewhere just to rock with DT. Not a single weak song imo. Trial of Tears  :hefdaddy

Dream Theater just has so many incredible songs no matter how good a setlist they have they will always be missing things (unless of course they did a 4+ hour show which id have no problem with :p). I am disappointed in the setlist not seeing Octavarium, ITNOG or ACOS which everyone seems to have wanted as well but honestly I think it is better than last year, playing songs that true fans would like instead of mostly just popular ones. I say replace the ADTOE songs with Octavarium and then it's a perfect show.

Agreed. Something has to get left out sometimes. I don't mind hearing something obscure in lieu of an I & W song. I just can't wait to hear/see the boot from this show with SDV. It can't be that the band played this for the first time and they themselves didn't have someone documenting it both on video and audio.

Another thing I'm curious about is how they did Portnoy's vocal parts in The Shattered Fortress.

hefdaddy42

I would never have designed that set list, but I would have been stoked to see it!  Awesome!

Or a JLB backing track. I can't really imagine JP's voice having the gritty delivery for it.

So, finally back at the hotel.
Was nice reading your comments. James voice was very very good tonight.
Spoke to The whole band except JMX after the show.
They are all psyched and happy that after all the rehearsals the tour has begun.
There's a superb vibe within band and crew, go see the show, it's top notch!

The Mirror
Lie
Lifting Shadows Off a Dream *faints yet again *
Scarred *and again *
Space-Dye Vest *and again*
Illumination Theory
Overture 1928
Strange Déjà Vu
Dance of Eternity
Finally Free

And that was it. I am very pleased with what we got.

Good show?

Absolutely. It was my 7th time seeing the band and it was surely the best DT show I ever attended. Sure, I'm a proponent of the new lineup as this incarnation rekindled my love for the band. So, you can take what I say with a grain of salt. Still, I believe the show was actually very good. James was in top form and clearly having a good night. Mike was just brilliant. He fits the band like a glove and I hope he never leaves the band. John Myung was more agitated than usual (by his standards, of course). Petrucci and Rudess were their usual excellent selves.

We have our first footage... of the drum solo!

Not quite sure what the title of the video is all about but hey. How cool is it when he plays the melody?  ;D

100% agree.  Its the Awake & SFAM anniversary, so I&W material can go on moratorium for this year.

Tonight's setlist was sublime: full of treats and surprises, nice blend of new material and requesite epics.  So happy I am seeing DT 3 times this tour.  Is it March yet???

Prediction that tomorrow's Setlist B switches out the SFAM encore for Side A tracks from Awake??

Personally, I didn't want Octavarium sucking up 25 minutes of the set.  Where were you when they played this every night in 2006?

I was surprised to see nothing from I&W but after due consideration I think it's a stonking set list.

The screen is cool. Also nice to see a switch up in the wardrobe department--going sleeveless

This was my 4th time , and all I can say is that it was probably my favorite.

- great setlist ( just dont liked that moment "Lifting Shadows/Scarred/ SdV ")
- motherf*ckin huge production on that multimedia stuff... I mean, best stuff i've seen!!!
- the video in the beggining was the best intro I EVER SAW ON A LIVE CONCERT!!!

I LOVED!! great luck for all of you will have the BIG LUCK to see this tour! Dont miss it. Probably one of the best.

cheers

As long as the band is happy with the setlist, I'm happy. I just hope that when they come to LA, they're playing The Bigger Picture by that point of the tour. ;)
My latest concept album "IV: Timber" IS OUT NOW!

Deaw theater? They must have had a good time. :lol The footage is excellent, can't wait for more. It was so cool how they transitioned from the drum solo back to EM and Jordan was pleasantly loud on TEI.
