One of the more "poppy" Porcupine Tree albums., some great moments, Last Chance to Evacuate Planet Earth Before It Is Recycled keeps creeping me out though  ::)

I am enjoying this way more than I should  :lol

Think I first found this on youtube labeled something like "awesome prog metal", certainly lived up to that.

Big Hath

I really like the electronic elements they inject into the genre

Crow

i probably should've waited a bit to send east of the wall to people since The Fractal Canopy is like the perfect roulette song for DTF, and probably my favorite on this album
though i like this album a lot in general, it's a bit more accessible than their other two but still unique enough and pretty damn good
i've listened to it like a dozen times and i'm still not tired of it in the slightest which is really the norm for these guys all things considered

Crow

it took me a long time to even track down somewhere to listen to this release

this is totally "prototype EotW" though, rough around the edges but still cool stuff

i'm basically a fanboy for these guys tho at this point, i'm going to own literally every release that isn't a split or a biclops demo eventually

for demos, this is still pretty cool stuff

i love these guys and want everything they've ever recorded

Crow

this is basically the crazy proggy instrumental version of East of the Wall
it might actually be a little too much, but i'mma keep listening to it anyways

SebastianPratesi

Well, besides The Astonishing and Blackstar, which I've obtained very recently, I've been listening to this, which was a Christmas present from my aunt and uncle:

So far, my favourite songs are "Rip This Joint" and "Loving Cup".

Also, this album from last year:

She's a mexican singer, who won a couple of Latin Grammys last year for the title-track. However, for me the standout track is "No Más Llorar", probably the most beautiful and haunting song I've heard in all my life.

I prefer Jason Becker's album, and Marty's Scenes and Introduction, but its an excellent shred album. I can't watch him play though - that picking hand is just weird. How he plays so well with such arthritis is beyond me

it's got a couple of good tunes, but I don't find it nearly as appealing as Themata or Sound Awake

Giving the early PT records another chance. Damn this is great.

I feel the same about the album, it has some of my favourite Karnivool songs (We are, Alpha Omega, Aeons, Eidolon) but also my least favourite (the song assymetry for example, I really don't like the guitar sound) so overall I would say Themata and Sound Awake are better albums.

Only know Sound Awake and Asymmetry but I agree SA is better in every aspect.

CHON - Grow, if in the right mood, this is perfect.

Ooh thanks for the heads up. I'm not super optimistic based on the songs so far, but I'm hoping the album is ok. Interested to hear your thoughts.

wolfking

Me too.  Brent have you shared opinions of the Resurrection Kings also? Maybe I've just missed them.

BlobVanDam

Mostly done with the Last in Line album myself now. In more ways than one. :lol

I guess that sums things up.  :lol  I'm not expecting anything from it anyway.

jjrock88

I would be interested in hearing that Last in Line album but don't expect much
