Totally get it. If renting lets you live better and invest more, it might be the smarter move for now. There's no rush to buy if it doesn't feel right.

No offense but what???

I'm sure you are responding to another post but, what?

Gorgeous morning is not cheaper this day and age. My house which is a three bedroom one bathroom is $1,158.00 a month.  A two bedroom apartment is going for two grand these days.

It uses Dewalt's 20v packs, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that the 60v battery I have for my Dewalt weed-whacker can be reduced down to 20v and also work in this trimmer. It's a massive pack that'll give you a heck of a runtime.

We went with the eGo.  I have a weedwhacker, hedge trimmer, edger, and chain saw.  The deal was sealed when I borrowed my father-in-laws weedwhacker.  What a breath of fresh air, for me.  I'm keeping my gas chain saw (for bigger trees) but we had a tree fall at my FiL's and my step son and I chopped it up in a half a day, and now I have about 1/2 cord (maybe a little more) ready for the fall.  Once I'm healed, I'll finished splitting it (I lucked into a 22-ton log splitter that "didn't run" for $400; one $35 carburetor later, and I'm sitting on a quality log splitter that's worth between $800 and a grand all day long).

I had surgery Thursday morning; they called it a bilateral open incarcerated umbilical hernia, so they put a mesh in my abdomen. I've been avoiding the oxy, but today was the first day where there wasn't real discomfort.  I can't lift anything over 10 pounds for the next three weeks or so.

There was a list of things I could not do following surgery; I do not recall seeing that on the list.  :)

Honestly, I don't know.  I've had a "blip" (you could feel a perforation of the abdominal wall right above my belly button) there that we've been watching for the better part of 15 years, but recently it's "extended" itself, warranting attention.  I suspect I actually sustained an injury back when I was 25 or so (I'm 56 now) that damaged the abdominal wall (I remember it, I was working construction) and as I've aged, the wall just got weaker.  I'm in decent shape overall, but I've never had what you call a "six pack", so it was inevitable I guess.

King Postwhore

I'm getting that surgery as well Bill next spring.

I was PETRIFIED (never had surgery before). No, really, I thought I was going to never wake up. They walk me in to the theater, lay me down and the nurse says "here's a board for your arm" (right arm) and I put my arm on that board. Then she says "here's a board for your other arm.  Let me help y..." and that's all I remember.  Woke up an hour later and that was that.

Not a ton of pain.  I took one oxy the night of the surgery, and the rest of the time it's been Advil's. Honestly I took the outer bandage off today and that hurt (well, itched) more than anything.

King Postwhore

I'm also getting the extra skin removed which as well, will take time to heal.

And that might have more discomfort than just the hernia.  The incision for the hernia is no lie, less than an inch long and in the belly button.  You'll have to be doing something my wife disapproves of to even see the scar once it's healed.

King Postwhore

Did they use a robot to do yours?

Bill, I had something similar a few years ago. Bilateral, but it was groinal...probably close to where your's was.
Fun times. Hoping for a speedy recovery.

I never personally considered the dentist as going into surgery although I guess it really is.  But I didn't get put under for my wisdom teeth, just the funny gas.

I'll tell you what's not a pleasant part of owning a home. Fixing broken water lines. It was nice when renting to just tell the owner "hey, you've got a major problem here." Having spent the last several days dealing with water issues has been a frustration to say the least.

It's weird; I feel like I can.  A buddy of mine had it done a year ago and he DOES still feel it.  That creeps me out a little bit to be honest, but we'll see.  So far so good; the fluid that normally forms over the spot of the extrusion is confusing things in that regard; I think I'll know more when that fluid is absorbed back into my body.

Though my wife is pretty pissed at me, I'm going to try to go see Cheap Trick Sunday; they're playing the arena at the casino near me, and a headlining arena show for them is pretty unusual, so I want to see that.
