What album are you listening to? v.5

Thanks. It gets a lot of criticism but I think it's a solid release of great space prog. I think its biggest Achilles' Heel is that it is going up against albums in their discography like Dark Side and Wish You Were Here.

It's my favourite PF album actually, I just love the unique psychedelic sound and Syd's fairytale like lyrics. And yeah it's definitily up against some amazing albums, which might nog help especially if people expect the sound of those albums on the Piper.

It's extremely different from their later stuff. It's very dreamy and surreal. Like you said, especially with Syd's lyrics.

What do you think of the Ayreon?

I like it, it's not as mindblowing as THE but it still sounds like a very solid Ayreon album at first listen.

That's pretty much my impression of it. I'll listen to it a couple of more times and  then probably shelf it.

Welp, finally got around this one. Kinda reminds me of mew at parts, but these guys definitely play a subtler, less complex style. Yet quite a unique, beautiful one. Pretty interesting stuff, will give it more listens.

U2 - October

Really like the raw sound of the first 3 albums. Much as I enjoy the Eno/Lanois albums that followed, War Boy and October are where I started with U2 (I followed them from the beginning) and they're still my sentimental favourites. Once Rattle and Hum came out and they really hit the big time, they started to lose me a bit. Still enjoyed them, but not as much.

WTF is this?

basically a Paul Sabu one-off/solo effort.  He's the lead vocalist/guitarist of Only Child if you've heard them.  Sounds a lot like Sammy Hagar to me.

Only Child were in one of the 1988 podcasts , I know that - so Tim has heard Sabu.   And yeah - he has a definite Hagar vibe.
