@Nick_z, talking about underrated thrash gems, this album is incredible...

Just a shame the frontman is a POS.

Absolutely yes to Vektor! All three albums are good, but this might be my favorite.

I have always said Terminal Redux is my favourite, but this was only my third listen to Black Future. I could absolutely see it becoming my favourite though.

I haven't followed the story super-closely, but it's physical violence/abuse to his wife...

wolfking

Ah shit, yeah, what a tosspot.

I tried that band a couple of times and I liked their style but their music didn't stick with me.

nick_z

The vocals are a bit much throughout an entire album  :) That's probably the biggest "minus" for me...but the riffage is undeniable.

NoseofNicko

Terminal Redux is pretty much a masterpiece. I suggest you give it a listen if you haven't already.

I wanted to understand all the fuss so I've been listening to Plini's Handmade Cities. Good player and a nice album, though not really any standout moments in my opinion.

Fascinating, it's loaded with them for me.  I'd give "Every Piece Matters" and "Electric Sunrise" another listen, or my favorite tune of his is on an earlier EP, "Paper Moon".  He was arguably the primary driver for getting me back into guitar-based instrumental rock music again.

Funny you should mention it - those are my two favorite tracks. I think Every Piece is my top. I think it has the most memorable melody and a coherent song structure. Some of the other tracks meander a bit.

He's a great player and it's cool to have a fresh face carry the torch for previous generation. I don't quite get the extent of the hype but I am still listening to it hoping it'll become evident. Don't get me wrong, I like the album, I just don't see it in the same league as the other guitar instrumental classics...yet

Love it! Melissa Bonny sounds great as usual, I really liked all of the covers even though I wasn't familiar with most of them (or maybe that helped, I don't know) and the 3 original songs are great!

Well as far as I'm concerned nearly every song there is killer.

it is. The record is quite good, and Jazzy at times. A worthy follow-up from What's Your Pleasure? from 2020.
