Had this in the car yesterday, what an amazing piece of art.  I always rated this a little lower than most, but it kicked me in the nuts yesterday and I understood it more.  Such a beautiful album.  Really never paid much attention to some of Chuck's rhythm playing here too, precise and quick.

Just listened to Human, had to follow it up with The Sound of Perseverance  :metal

luke: Pokemon – Pokemon Theme That was the best! I like Pokemon and I liked the characters. I think there was all of them. It was cool. [Have you heard that song before?] No! Score: 10 trillion

That might be next.  Have had Symbolic in the car.  What a wonderful sounding album, as is TSOP.

Crystal Mountain is unbelievable. But, really, all of Symbolic is full of goodness, wherever you look. To me, it's where Chuck found the perfect mix of death and "classic" metal. I mean, in addition to the songs mentioned above, think for example of the melodic moments and riffs in Sacred Serenity and Without Judgement (the section that starts around 2:50!)...

I still can't quite decide if I like Individual Thought Patterns or Symbolic the best, but in the end it doesn't really matter  ;)

I'll easily take ITP over Symbolic, but the production on ITP hurts it a little.  LaRocque though and his solos on the first few songs takes the album to another level IMO.

Agreed on the production, not Scott Burn's best work, for sure...And yes, LaRocque's solos are magnificent.

When I was lucky enough to spend time with Chuck on the Spiritual Healing tour he told me one of his biggest influences and favorite bands was Watch Tower and he wanted Death to evolve into a more technical band as they were heading. What would Chuck be doing if he was alive today? What an absolutely incredible HUMAN. He's so fucking missed.

They put out a good album a few years ago, Rise To Glory.

I thought their last album was weak.

Live Loud Alive is still one of the all time greatest live albums I've ever heard!

Rise To Glory is good but for a while they put out some real crap. That live album is excellent! This tour they are supposedly going to be playing mostly early stuff. Rise To Glory is heavy but somewhat back to form, I have to give the newest one a closer listen.
