Maiden is a tie for my fave band with DT, and I just think they are amazing. My fave album is Powerslave, followed by (in random order) Piece of Mind, Brave New World, and A Matter of Life and Death. The Number of the Beast, Seventh Son of a Seventh Son and The Final Frontier are also amazing in my opinion.

I feel like I could've written the exact same thing! Except my favorite album is not Powerslave.

Jirpo

Awesome! :D What is your fave maiden album?

TAC

Well, my Top 5 looks like this:
The Number Of the Beast
Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son
Piece Of Mind
A Matter Of Life And Death
The Final Frontier

My favorite Live Album is Death On The Road

Birch Boy

I listened to Piece Of Mind for the first time in a while yesterday, and the less-amazing tracks like "Sun And Steel" and "Quest For Fire" made me think they were better than what I remembered them as being (which was good, just nothing special). And there are the untouchables of the album (basically every song besides those two).

jjrock88

"Die with your boots on" is a standout track for me.  Once it was stuck in my head for like a week straight lol

Birch Boy

"Where Eagles Dare", "Flight Of Icarus", "The Trooper", and "Die With Your Boots On" are all top-tier, with "To Tame A Land" and "Revelations" being the next step down, and the rest another step down.

The King in Crimson

You know, Piece of Mind was my first Maiden album, but it ranks really low on my list. Everyone else seems to love it, but I only really like maybe half the tracks on it.

Voyage 34

I actually think Piece of Mind was pretty weak. Where Eagles Dare is great, so is the Trooper. But the thing is that there are live versions of the Trooper that I like way more than the studio version. All in all PoM doesn't get listened to very often by me.

zxlkho

Birch Boy is incorrect. "Revelations" is Maiden's best song ever.

Birch Boy

Except it's not. Not at all. Not even the best on POM, not even close.

It's a Maiden classic, and IMO the best on POM and a top 5 maiden song.
I love every song on POM except for Quest for Fire, Sun and Steel and Die With Your Boots on.

Not quite for me, but it's up there. It features my favourite bass lines in a Maiden song, that has to count for something.

Actually it's the opposite for me, I can't stand that track for some reason.

wolfking

Die With Your Boots on is one of the weakest tracks on POM.

Yeah, I agree with this.

It's my least favorite on Piece of mind, along with Quest for fire. The rest is fantastic, even Sun and steel, such a catchy track.  ;D

jsem

Best Maiden tune is clearly imo Rime of the Ancient Mariner.

skydivingninja

Too bad you're all wrong for not saying "Powerslave."

Jirpo

Hallowed is my favourite (boring, I know). Powerslave comes in second, Revelations in 5th :D

Birch Boy

"Hallowed Be Thy Name" could be my favorite too.

sneakyblueberry

Prodigal Son is my favourite

I was a big Maiden fan back in my youth but fell out of love with them around SIT and never really got it back, though I bought all their albums except the X Factor and No Prayer.
Best albums
1. Killers
2. Beast
3. Powerslave
4. Piece of Mind
5. Matter of Life and Death

Come to think of it, these are the only albums I like. A scattering of good songs on the others but not near good albums.

Favourite song, Murders In The Rue Morgue.

I can't listen to TFF because Bruce sounds in pain.

Maybe with Blaze, but have you heard the version with Bruce from Rock In Rio? It's amazing.

jjrock88

The Blaze version of Sign of the Cross isn't as good as the Bruce version, but still very good non the less.  I love Bruce's version of "The Clansman" and "Futureal".  I seem to be in the minority of people that really enjoy the Blaze era, but would be interested to have Iron Maiden re-record those two cd's with Bruce on vox.

Birch Boy

Listening to Death On The Road's "No More Lies". :birch:

Sign of the cross  :metal

That's a boring one.

No.

I don't think they need to re-record those albums.  They are perfect how they are.

Blaze version > Bruce version.

Hallowed Be Thy Name is the best, followed by Rime of the Ancient Mariner

I'm tempted to agree with this.

Zydar

It's really tough to choose one favourite Maiden song. Aces High is up there for me, so is The Evil That Men Do and Wasted Years.
