I know Mike mentioned this a while back, here's a juicy RR press release for ya.

Apparently Opeth is a part of this too.   :metal

Looking forward to it :metal

But I want a CD, not a digital EP...

yeshaberto

Is there any indication that you'll be able to get this WITHOUT preordering the game, legally?

They should let us download the EP separately. If not, then that's friggin stupid! (Because I know I'll buy the whole game if I have to. I don't even own an Xbox.)  >:(

Am I right in thinking the DT one is going to be an instrumental? I think I remember that being said when it was first announced.
If that is the case, I would be extra interested if it was all instrumental... Although new DT and Opeth is always welcome!

"This is the first time in 24 years that we've written and recorded a song for anything other than one of our own albums, so we're up for the challenge and excited to have been asked," said Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy about recording an exclusive instrumental track for the soundtrack.

Oh and "The  God of War III Ultimate Edition will retail for $99.99"  :eek I hope the soundtrack will be availible seperately!

That's good, because the game is exclusive to PS3  :lol

But why are all the other bands apparently doing full band songs, when DT is doing an instrumental? I love instrumentals as much as the next guy, but I wish they were having James do some vocals.
Maybe he couldn't make it to the recording sessions?

Maybe it's just too much of a hassle to have James involved in the songwriting process when he doesn't need to be?

Or maybe they wanted an instrumental on the soundtrack, in which case DT would probably be the best for the job.

Imagine JP or MP writing lyrics for a God of War song? Yeah.

I could bet "Dark master" and "Forevermore" being part of those lyrics...

Shadow2222

I still don't understand what is so bad about Constant Motion's lyrics. I think the "Forever more..." part is cool.

Well, they're just awful.  That's what is so bad about them.

They are quite motivating while on a run. I often play the air drums, which can be intense when it comes to MP; people probably think I'm nuts.

I'm glad it's an instrumental because DT hasn't written one in years.

Yeah, I think they're lovely. They're not hugely deep, but deep'd be incredibly out of place in this song. They're well-written, and match the pace perfectly. A little more creative than, say, Panic Attack's account of panic attacks.

hefdaddy42

You really think "Forevermore Into the night blistering!" is lovely?

Really?

robwebster

Yeah! Sure, it's tacky enough but I don't think it's in a particularly bad way. It's a fun, energetic bit of a fun, energetic song.

I'd say it is the worst bit, though, for what it's worth. It only lasts a couple of seconds, though, and it's plenty easy to shout, so it doesn't really bring it down.

robwebster

For what it's worth, I do love that it's a bit silly. I think it's great. Puts a smile right on my face. Bring on the vampires, Dark Masters and FOREVERMORE!

Besides, I think more than any Dream Theater song Constant Motion fills you from top to toe with energy, and the line kinda fits that. Even though it has chuff all to to do with the rest of the lyrics, it does have a fair bit to do with the music.

I'm trying to justify it on a few levels here, and I think a couple of them might have become slightly contradictory. :lol But yeah! Good moment.
