Quote from: Stadler on October 07, 2024, 11:14:02 AMCLEARLY no Boston, Guns'n'Roses or Def Leppard fans here. Jeez, Louise. I get being excited - I am, too - but you'd think it's been years.  "Drawn out"?  I'll show you "drawn out".  ;) :) :) :) :)

Well I'm still patiently waiting for the new pagans mind (13 years now) and circus Maximus (8 years now) albums! So I can wait, I just choose to be a baby with this DT album 😂

KevShmev

Trial by fire = Game of Thrones reference (Trial by combat)

The Astonishing was clearly influenced by Game of Thrones

This obviously means the new album will be a sequel to The Astonishing.

Quote from: MoraWintersoul on October 07, 2024, 11:23:38 AMHe *is* Norwegian, and they refer to fall and winter as "sofatime" (sofatid) after all.

I'm saying "they" as if I don't live here, have a permanent residence permit and am very eager to attend any and all meetups in Oslo before the DT show btw

Yes, I sleep really heavily, and as all Norwegians i leave my door open for anyone to break in and take my phone which may or may not contain the album...

Address? U can tell me, I'm American, I'd never go to Norway to steal your phone. I'm from NY, break ins never happen here! 😂

either that or the final Journey album in the classic lineup (also of that name, came out in 1996. I'm told it's a good one)

The Letter M

Quote from: Wim Kruithof on October 07, 2024, 11:40:25 AMStill it's weird to me they didn't split up The Count of Tuscany into sections. It's their only epic which isn't split up.

What about "A Nightmare To Remember"? At over 16 minutes long, it's longer than other songs that fans consider epics, like "Trial Of Tears" (which does have three movements) and "In The Name Of God" (which doesn't have any named movements). I guess that depends on what songs you consider to be DT's "epics".

I was thinking more like a concept album about the SS Minnow. Skipper, Gilligan, and the crew.  :D

I mean, I rarely post on social media anyway, but for the life of me, I would never ever ever make a post like that. (And I mean that either way; it's not a "Portnoy" thing.)

The Astonishing Redux: This Time We Get It Right
Quote from: BlobVanDam on December 11, 2014, 08:19:46 PMHef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

What if these videos of the guys waking up simply is a nod to the 30th anniversary of "Awake"!

That's interesting. I bet that's it.
Quote from: wkiml on June 08, 2012, 09:06:35 AMwould have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related

Quote from: Max Kuehnau on October 07, 2024, 02:12:49 PMwould be too much of a hoopla for that occasion

If it is related to the dream/sleep theory, the timing in conjuction with the 30th anniversary of Awake is no coincidence. MP has been posting album "birthdays" on Insta all year. All this hoopla seems like too much to not be related to the new album, but I think it's another reason to think they're thematically related.

I'm going with Nightmares and Dreamscapes as a potential album title - it seems to fit with all of the hints lately and would be ripe for all sorts of little nuggets and references.

HOF

It would be funny if they were going to all this long drawn out effort to celebrate the anniversary of Awake, which was actually last week now.
Quote from: TAC on December 12, 2024, 05:40:22 PM"No way" is kind of strong, but I do lean with HOF.

yeah no, you're right. The first teaser was released on October 4th (US time, where applicable, October 5th German time), which was the 30th anniversary of Awake. Not a conincidence IMHO.

Especially since these posts didn't start until after the anniversary had passed.
Feelin' kinda spooky.

oh so the first one had been posted on October 5th US time as well? Ok then. I'm a bit of a mess sometimes concerning the US time zones

Close enough for me. I'm pretty sure they posted about Awake on the 4th so that may as well have kicked off the theme as far as I'm concerned.

Day of, day after... They've been working on this for 8 months, it's no coincidence that I happened so close to the anniversary either way imo.
