I lost my daughter to cancer; I know what it feels like to lose a loved one to this horrible illness. Unfortunately, cancer doesn't discriminate against age, ethnicity, etc. My heart goes out to you, and your family. Stay strong, brother.

Sorry to hear that. Welcome to the forum. Haven't seen you round these parts before. Where you hailing from?

Christ mate, that's just awful.  Life really isn't fair sometimes.  Welcome to DTF!?

Also, on a side note, a T-Chicken looks and sounds badass!  :metal

Fun fact: The T-rex and the Chicken are closer both genetically and chronologically than the T-rex is to a Stegosaurus.

Yes, it's all Coelurosauria.

Thanks. Life can really be a bitch sometimes. It's how we choose to handle it, and move forward, that matters. My "moto" or "mission statement", if you will, is to enjoy life and help others enjoy life, as much as possible.

And, thanks, I'm currently working on reverse engineering a chicken back into a miniature T-Rex.

How much genetic commonality is there between a T. rex, chicken, cartoon character, an uncle, and a self proclaimed 'forum slut'?

Potentially quite a bit.

Saw someone on reddit say MP said the Paris show is being recorded and likely one from the phase 2 of the tour where they focus on the new album more. Apparently talked about this on the Eddie Trunk podcast.  I have no links, so take it for what you will.

Not surprised they would record a show, just wondering why some dates.  That also would imply no Score 2.0

I think Tim posted a link to the Trunk podcast with Portnoy earlier in this thread.

I think I read somewhere that parasomnia would be played in full after it comes out... would be cool and acceptable to me if the second half of the show would be the 12-SS, anyone else would like to see this

Little forum in-joke. We're all waiting with baited breath to see if you're about to tell one of us to go fuck ourselves.

JR did say in one interview playing it from start to finish for one set and favorites the 2nd

TheBarstoolWarrior

AND MP did say playing the 12SS is unfinished business. I think that's probably right: later date sets could have Parasomnia plus the 12SS.

Hopefully that's not going to happen but I wouldn't be surprised.

Why on earth would I do that? Everyone has been real nice to me ever since I signed up. And even if someone were to be disrespectful to me, I would just let it roll off, like a droplet on a leaf. I've lurked on this forum for a couple years, but finally decided to create an account, as it seems like a really cool place and online community of like-minded individuals. Honestly, a little context here would help.

We've had a couple of new members recently who've been, well... perhaps a little more antagonistic than they might have been had they chosen to settle in a little first.

The context is that in the last couple months we've had a number of troll accounts spring up in higher than normal volume. They appear to be linked to one troll, who continues to get himself banned with some of his accounts while generally behaving through others. Either way there is a performance pattern that let's just say doesn't seem completely alien to you.

But this is a welcoming place so I don't want to linger on that too long. This is a forum of music lovers and we love to chat DT. Tell me, if you would, where do you teach and what your focus is.

I teach at USFCA. My main focus is music composition, however I also teach ear training, as well as jazz improvisation, and private classical guitar lessons.

https://blabbermouth.net/news/dream-theaters-concert-in-paris-to-be-filmed-and-recorded-for-future-blu-ray-and-live-album

Quotewe filmed and recorded the big O2, first night [of the tour in London], just mainly for posterity and for the archives. But we do have plans to film our show in Paris [on November 23] for a live Blu-ray and a live album.

QuoteThe whole first phase, which would be the first six to eight months will be the 40th-anniversary reunion celebration, but at some point mid-next year, we're gonna transition into a full tour cycle supporting the upcoming album. So even with the live album we're gonna record in Paris [in November], that's probably one of two releases that we'll probably do because we're gonna wanna do a proper live release once we start playing the new album as well

So they want to do two official live albums and have the O2 show recorded for the archives.  I think that's awesome.

Yes. Our undergraduate program doesn't currently offer a music major (only minor), however I and one of my colleagues are actively working to get that changed, hopefully sometime in the near future. If not, I will probably end up transferring. One of my friends teaches at the Musician's Institute in Los Angeles, so I may end up going there. We'll see.

Do it. I would kill to be able to listen to Scott Henderson's crotchety brilliance every day.

I actually got to meet Scott several years back, through my friend. He's a really nice guy. I've always really enjoyed his guitar playing, in Tribal Tech, Vital Tech Tones, and his solo albums.

James missed some kind of backstage cue and did not sing the first verse in Night Terror tonight in Budapest. Mike shrugged to the audience and when James finally came in he said "no one fucking told me we were starting" on mic. Took a few tries but managed to get his bearings in time for the chorus. Pretty funny stuff.

Look for 2min50s for the on-mic complaint.
