Quote from: nogueira on December 13, 2024, 11:29:09 AMFelipe Andreoli and Marcelo Barbosa from Angra were in attendance too, right next to me and my buddies.

Very cool! Got to meet them in September at ProgPower  :metal

Quote from: gzarruk on December 13, 2024, 11:32:03 AMThat's awesome! Hopefully you were able to get a pic with them.

Unfortunately I was not. After the first set ended I rushed to the washroom. I then took a seat and when I came back one of my friends told me that he had gotten a picture with them.

I was very near them, but didn't want to approach them because they were there as civilians and just wanted to enjoy DT.

Interestingly enough, they will play the same venue this Sunday.

I saw them entering the premium area before the show started, first Felipe and then Marcelo (and a few minutes later Jean Dolabella).

Lots of people asking to take pictures, all the time. Marcelo came right up to where I was to take pictures with people who asked. I just greeted him. I didn't ask to take pictures because poor guys, there were already so many people asking. They were very attentive to everyone who asked, but I don't like to bother them with that  :lol

I don't remember seeing an announcement, but I just saw that the Radio City show is sold out, and there are exactly 9 seats remaining for the Boston show.  For the LA show, it looks like they opened a bunch of new sections, and those sections are only about 20% sold, but the pit and orchestra have only one ticket still available.

I just saw that I bought my tickets three months ago, and we still have two months until the LA show and three until NYC.  Waiting, waiting, waiting....   :)
Feelin' kinda spooky.

Progmaniac1988

Radio City just got a few rows center orchestra made available on Ticketmaster for anyone that missed out before the first batch sold out. Get em while they last! Just a small handful left. I was able to exchange my further back seat for a standard priced pit ticket third row from the stage!!! Only $450! Since people are reselling that section at over 1-2k per seat i think made out well!!! lol so anyone that wants to get tickets or exchange without paying a arm and leg go for it while you can.

Schurftkut

"only 450" damn, i wonder how much arms and legs cost over there

450 ain't too bad when comparing to resale of course. Those pit seats are running 2,500 resale. (I'm not that crazy to pay anywhere near that) The other seats available are 200-350 center orchestra. You'll be looking at double that resale, so that to me is arm and a leg.

I've always kept my ticket around 150 Max even with DT. Radio City 3rd row from the stage at 450 to me is well worth it. It's a first time kind of experience for me, Once in a lifetime experience. Never could afford the best seats, now I can, So I decided to splurge a bit!

Seriously tho, ticket prices in general suck now...

Value is all in the eye of the beholder. If you want to, and have the resources, why not? Live the moment; love the memories.

And you've reminded me I need to work out if I'm driving to Heathrow the morning of my flight to JFK or if I'm staying in a hotel the night before.

I'd say that completely depends on the length of your ride. If it saves you sitting in traffic for over an hour or more I'd say stay at a hotel. Although if it's a relatively short drive why not hold onto that extra money, for when you get to the show?

nobloodyname

I'm about 2.5 hours from LHR on a good run. And that's the thing. It's on two of the UK's most notorious motorways for delays: the M1 and the M25. Flight is at 8:50 am, I think, so I'd need to be out of the door at, I dunno, four o'clock, And even then I'd feel twitchy! I think I've talked myself into getting a hotel :lol

Just a little over a month for the Philly Show  :metal  :corn

Surprised the boys with tickets as an XMas present to the Chicago show on March 8th. They were stoked. They've only ever seen DT with MM as the drummer...they're pumped to see MP play

ReaPsTA

I paid $100/ticket for the cheap seats. Have never paid more than like ~$70 for a DT ticket before. People are showing up to this.

Looking on Stubhub...

There's one single pit ticket listed at $746 and a pair of pit seats for $2,557 each.

There's a pair of row P center orchestra tickets listed at $173 each.  The lowest pair in the far right orchestra section is listed at $571 each, but the other orchestra sections have pairs starting at $102 each (far left) and $194 (just right of center.

Obviously, no one's going to buy the $571 orchestra pair when better seats are available for less than half that price, and there's no way anyone is going to pay $2,500+ for the pit pair.  I think some of these listings are people setting ridiculous prices just to see if someone will bite.

By the way, all of the newly available pit tickets are listed on Ticketmaster for more than I paid for my second row pit ticket!   :lol

Yeah, tickets definitely selling and mostly completely sold for the shows I've been tracking.  I'm going solo, so I expect I'll still get a ticket day of, probably not less than face value though since they are selling, no one will dump them for cheap, but face value tickets will certainly pop up as the dates get close.

TheBarstoolWarrior

MP posted that this is their most successful tour ever. People are definitely showing up and I wouldn't expect that to change when they come home to the States. It's a complete 180 from the preceding tour.

Yeah some people are just crazy the prices they are selling. 2,557 is just sick. Wtf can afford that? Lol The 173 seats are a good deal tho! I think it's a matter of shopping around. Ticketmaster always up charges newly released tickets. I'm just glad I got my hands on a seat at a decent amount of $. Not saying it's cheap, but worth it to me. This $450 is definitely the most expensive ticket I've ever gotten, and probably will be in my life haha. You gotta live life tho!

I must say that I really underestimated the effect that MP returning would have on Dream Theater fans.

I admit I have as well, maybe because I've never really gone anywhere. I've followed them through the past 25ish years regardless of line up. This line up does hold a certain magic tho.

Me too. And there is no denying it is the primary, if not sole reason for the surge in attendance.

TheBarstoolWarrior

Return of any classic lineup is going to bring back a lot of attention. I can't imagine the difference in attendance between Guns N Roses Chinese Democracy shows and the Not In This Lifetime tour. I know which one I attended  :lol

I figured they'd do significantly better than Dreamsonic on this tour and likely better than any MM tour.  I think the real difference will be on the next couple tours.  Do they keep the momentum or does it go back to more typical DT attendance? I'm not sold that this is going to hold for the remainder of the career, but would be great if the momentum continues and they can grow further.

ReaperKK

Yea it'll be interesting to see what the retention will be with future tours.

devieira73

Since the US tour starts when Parasomnic will be released, do you think we'll have any setlist changes? Personally I would like them to include A Broken Man and The Shadow Man Incident in place of the present encore (Home/TSCO/PMU). Maybe Octavarium could be the new encore.

It won't hold forever. Then the real question is where do things settle in 2-3 albums from now. But I think they set themselves up really nicely with momentum that could carry them through for a while.

Playing a new epic to an audience that's never heard it, or maybe only heard it once would probably bring down the energy and excitement considerably, ruining the entire point of the 40th Anniversary tour. I could see A Broken Man appearing, but they'd be making a huge mistake playing Shadow Man on this upcoming leg.

I'm guessing there will be zero substitutions on the US leg since Chile night 2 didn't even change besides doing a cover. Looks like they're locked into this setlist.

TheHoveringSojourn808

Didn't they say they were gonna play the full album every night once it comes out?

Not on the US tour next month. That's a 40th Anniversary setlist.

The following leg will be the Parasomnia tour proper, if I understand it correctly.

Ohhh interesting, I think I misunderstood then. When does the second leg start?

In other news this bodes well for me since that means I'll almost certainly get Octavarium in Denver

I'm assuming when they go back to Europe starting in June. I haven't seen those dates billed as the Parasomnia tour, though. So, maybe not. 🤔

Can I just say that as much as I'm sure that I'll enjoy the concert in March, I have to confess that not seeing them until a year and a half has passed since the reunion announcement has definitely tempered my excitement. Not seeing a new album tour for almost another year..jeez.

Same.  The glacial pace here has caused me to lose a lot of interest.  I also don't care for the way they released the songs.  I listened to the first song once...maybe twice.  I haven't even listened to the second song.  And then months of nothing.  I'm sure my interest will start to ramp up leading up to the concert in February, but that's still several weeks away.
Feelin' kinda spooky.
